My most recent woodcut-intaglio print series, titled PlantWisdoms, draws on my understanding
that the source of humanity's knowledge,
its consciousness and wisdom,
is rooted in Nature’s very own manifold forms of expression and inherent intelligence.
The German poet philosopher Friedrich Schiller (1759-1805) has put it into this nugget of words:
Suchst du das höchste, das größte?
Die Pflanze kann es dich lehren.
Was sie unwillens ist, sei du es wollend.
Das ist's.
***
Are you seeking the highest, the greatest?
The plant can teach you.
What it is without will, be you it willingly.
That's it.
