In this body of work Rosa Luxemburg's passion for botanizing herbaceous plants as well as excerpts from her intimate letters to friends are set as a contrast against the fierce revolutionary and socialist ideals for which she is known for and was repeatedly incarcerated; ending in being assassinated in Berlin on January 15th in 1919.
I began referencing Rosa's attributes in 2014 when my attention was drawn to Rosa's profound humanity, her deep seated empathy for all sentient beings and the inner conflicts she experienced with regards to her Marxist ideology and anti-war activism. All of what I am naming through these works has taken on an even greater importance to speak about when placed into the context of 2022 and beyond.
